Airline Credit Cards for Students

If you’re currently attending college and you find yourself travelling a lot, you may want to look into getting a credit card that’s designed for student air travel. When it comes down to the credit card market, there really aren’t that many credit cards that focus on the student market. In fact, I can only really recommend one credit card to you that you’ll most likely get approved for.
Before I get into the specifics of the credit card you should apply, you’re going to want to first ask yourself a few questions to see if a travel credit card for a college student will fit your needs. Listed below, I’ve noted a few questions that you should ask yourself and then write down an answer. This will give you a good idea on if you should apply for a credit card that focuses around airline miles or not.
How much do you fly each year?
Are you loyal to a particular airline?
Are you responsible with your credit?
If you tend to fly at least two to three times a year, you will definitely want to look into a travel credit card. The reason you want to fly a few times a year is because you’ll find that some credit cards have their airline miles expire after a few years. It’s important that you use those miles in time seeing that’s the point of signing up for a credit card with these types of perks.
If you’re not loyal to a particular airline, you’ll probably be better off applying for a cash back type credit card or a point based credit card because you’re going to get the most for your money on an airline based credit card. What you’ll find with an airline credit card is that you’ll get double, sometimes even more than that when you purchase an airline ticket directly through that airline with your credit card. The nice thing about this is that these miles can add up fairly quickly giving your freer airline tickets.
My biggest piece of advice is that if you’re not good with your credit cards; don’t apply for a student based airline credit card. Even though there are credit cards on the market designed for students, it’s important that you build up credit for these types of cards. If you don’t have good credit, you’re generally not going to be approved or you’ll have a card with a very low credit limit. If your credit limit is too low, you’ll find that you won’t have enough credit to purchase your airline tickets.
If you’ve answered all these questions and you think this type of credit card will work for you then I highly recommend it for your arsenal of credit card. Listed below is that only credit card on the market that is designed solely for students that you’ll most likely be approved for. Remember to be responsible and to use that credit card every time you make a travel related purchase.
