Going on vacation can be a fun time but if you’re one of the thousands that get sick in the air, you’re not alone! While there’s only so much you can do to prevent the air sickness, there are some remedies out that that can make the flight a little bit more enjoyable.
See your doctor ahead of time – Before you go on your next flight, go to your doctor and explain your symptoms. Your doctor may have some special medications that can help you with your air sickness. He/she may even have a cure that can prevent it altogether. The best way to go is generally by a sleeping type pill. If you’re knocked out, this will make the trip fly by.
Wear loose clothing – The lighter your clothes are around your stomach, the easier your stomach will feel. If you have tight clothing strapped to your stomach, this may cause a slight pain when you stomach is getting upset. This will only make the situation worse. In today’s age, you don’t need to dress fancy to hop onto a plane, instead wear something loose such as jogging pants and a t-shirt. No one will care what you look like on a plane, trust me.
Don’t over eat – Before you hop on the plane, try and eat as light as possible. You won’t want to hop on with a full stomach of eggs and bacon. Instead, eat something light so you’re not filled up. This way, if you do get sick, you don’t throw up and use up the whole bag. This will save everyone around you. The more you stay away from the greasier foods, the better.
Avoid the bar – If you love drinking before flights, this may be your problem. Drinking is not going to help your sickness. In fact, it’s only going to make things worse. Try and drink a little bit of water or ginger ale before you get on the flight. The less liquids and food you have in your stomach, the better you’ll feel.
Bring saltines- Just in case you start to feel that dizziness or stomach ache come to you, bring some saltine crackers and ginger ale on the plane. This is the best remedy if you’re feeling an upset stomach. When you feel your stomach starting to turn, simply drink and eat a little bit of each and you’ll start to feel a little bit better.
Don’t let air sickness ruin your fun. Everyone on this planet has some sort of problems but if you can find ways to reduce your sickness, it will only make your travelling more enjoyable. Try some of the remedies mentioned above and see how they work out. If none of the above mentioned tips work, I would consult with your doctor or find other alternate ways of travelling.
