Whenever I book a flight or vacation, I always look for coupon codes online.  For example, if I’m going to rent a car, I check out at least 6 online car rental companies and see who has the cheapest rate.  Once I find the cheapest rate, I will input a search online the lines of  “[insert car rental company name here] coupon codes”.  You’ll be amazed at what comes up.  I’ve saved over 35% sometimes.  Try this with the airlines, car rental companies and hotels.

When you use online services like Travelocity and Orbitz, don’t book through them because they are going to most likely charge you a booking fee.  Instead, find the airline, hotel or whatever you’re looking for and go directly to their website.  When you go to book a ticket or room, you’ll find that the company website itself is going to be a lot cheaper than the third party agent.

Always look for package deals

When you book a vacation package together, you’re going to find that this is a great way to save.  Say you want to book a hotel, car rental and airline.  Try third party agents when doing a search like this and see what kind of discounts come up.

Try out the discount travel sites

Site like TravelZoo are amazing when it comes to discount travelling.  If you don’t know where you want to go with your family, try out this site to get some great ideas.  I’ve seen cruises as cheap as $299 a person and plane tickets as low as $50.  The only downfall is sometimes you have to book within a few months.

Head to USA.gov - At USA.gov, you’ll be able to look for your state.  From there, click on the link and you’re going to get more information on how you can find these particular items.  Some states will allow you to bid online while others make you go in person to order.  That website will give you a lot more information on how you can do everything.

When you go to the website, see what kind of surplus stores they have in your area.  If you don’t want to bid online, I would either call up or see if they have more information online.  You’ll find that some surplus stores will allow you to come in on certain days and buy things for a fixed price.

At the store, you’re going to find everything from big trucks to small things like pocket knifes.  If you’re looking for smaller items or even bigger items at a very great price, it reminds me of a flea market.  You just have to think of things people don’t care that they lose via the police or the airport.  Like anything though, you’re always going to find that hidden gem.

People often travel to different places using airlines as their mode of transportation. Airlines have converted their passenger flights into water tankers in order to help put out forest fires to save lives and property. This may seem like an unusual thing to carry but when there are not enough planes that are equipped to do this it becomes necessary to call on pilots and airlines to help. Airlines have carried medicines in war zones, medications to out of the way places, food to areas in famine, and often they have done this voluntarily without compensation.
