A lot of us would go on vacation more if we have the money.  There is something about getting away from home, exploring new places, and relaxing that excites us more than anything.  Although, what people don’t realize is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to plan a vacation.  Instead, there are things you can do to help you save money.  If you’re looking to go on a vacation in the near future, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money, consider a few of these tips!

Budget – First of all, think of a price they you’re willing to pay.  This means choose a price that you don’t mind spending, and a limit that you do not want to go over.  Once you have this price figured out, write it on your piece of paper.

How to get there – Now, how do you plan on getting there?  Both driving and flying can be the cheaper way, it just depends on your situation.  Which way is cheaper for you, and which one do you think you’ll take?  Remember to add this as part of your budget.

Hotel choice – There are a lot of great hotels out there, but make sure you choose a hotel wisely.  Most big cities charge a lot for their hotel prices, so you may want to consider getting a hotel that is just on the out skirts of the city.  This way you’re still close, but you’re spending less.

Also, you want to find a hotel that offers a free breakfast.  If anyone says something is free, we’re there!  Add up the price it would cost for you and the others to eat out for breakfast, plus tip.  Now, consider a free price.  See where this is going?

Cash only – Now, when you’re at your vacation spot, you want to make sure you only have cash on you. This is important because it is so easy to spend a lot of money on souvenirs, and the little things here and there.  So, book everything else by credit card, but when you’re going out only bring cash.  This will save you from racking up your credit cards, and it limits you on the spending you can do.  Therefore, you’ll make wiser choices, and only buy the things you really want because you’re limited.

There are several different things you can do to save money when going on vacation.  Keep these tips in mind, and see what else you can come up with.  Vacations are fun, don’t limit yourself because of money, because they can be cheap.

Some of us have this amazing passion to travel the world.  We want to live in different places, see all the major cities, travel to each country, and see each continent.  There is so much to see in this world, although with the costs, it’s almost impossible to travel to every place, and still save up money.  Although traveling isn’t cheap, there are ways to see it for free.  If you’re looking to travel for a while, and you don’t want to pay for it, consider a few of these groups!

Peace Corps – This group is for all ages, and you are able to see the world for free!  It is an all expense-paid trip.  When you sign up for peace corps you are volunteering your time to help out other countries that don’t have it as good as the you, and are slowly developing.  When volunteering, you will most likely be able to travel to Africa, South America, and/or Asia.

United Nations – This is another opportunity you don’t want to pass up!  If you have any experience in any field, you can travel the world.  All expenses are paid, including airfare, to and from work, vaccines, etc.  They just want experienced people like you to help out their country!

Voluntary Services -  There are several volunteer services out there.  With this program, there have been over 30,000 volunteers, primarily in African, Asia, the Caribbeans, and eastern Europe.  Once again, they are asking for help from people like to help out their country!

Traveling the world for free is definitely a possibility these days!  There are many ways to do it, it is very rewarding, life changing, and is something to feel good about.  Volunteering your time, is the best thing you can give to someone.  It shows you care, makes you a better person, and it also has many benefits like traveling for no cost!  So, if you’re interested in seeing the world, be sure to consider something like this!

When we’re getting ready to travel, the excitement is in the air.  We love to explore new surroundings, see what other places have to offer, and we love to just get away from our home town for a while.  If you’re planning on traveling abroad for a while, there are some things you should consider before you leave.  When we’re gone for longer than the average vacation, we need to plan a little differently.  Consider a few of these tips to make your traveling a little easier.

• You want to make sure you have your traveling documents in order.  This means any reservation papers printed, flights printed, a passport and any visas that you need.
• Always try to plan your trip ahead of time.  This means events, hotels, etc. beforehand.
• Try to come up with a final total of how much you’re going to spend.  The total for the trip, and how much per day.  You don’t want to be in shock, and you want to keep track o your spending.
• Consider travel insurance.  This means it will cover any missed flights, medical emergencies, lost baggage, etc.  This is something we worry about when we travel, so lets make it something we don’t have to worry about.
• Always write your name, address and phone number on any luggage you’re taking with you.  You don’t want to loose it, but if it does get lost someone will be able to contact you right away.
• Don’t ever exceed your credit limit.  In some countries you can go to jail if you do.  Always keep track of your balance, and write down how much you’re spending.

As you can see, traveling abroad takes some thinking beforehand, and during your trip.  Make smart choices, be safe, and consider a few of these tips to help you out.  We want to make sure our trip was worth the money, worth the time, and a memory we’ll never forget!

Hostels are a great way to save money when you’re travelling across North America.  Instead of paying anywhere from $50 – $100 a night, why not stay at a hostel, and pay as little as a few dollars?  Now, if you’re confused on what a hostel is, let me explain.

What is a hostel?

A hostel is a hotel that provides travellers a place to stay.  It’s generally an inexpensive place to stay, where guests can rent a bunk bed, a bed, or share a room.  Most of the time, you’re sharing the space you’re using.

Know your itinerary

The first step that you want to take is to make sure you know where you want to go, and where you want to stay.  If you’re taking a road trip, you may want to just guess at where you’re going to stay.  If you don’t book ahead of time, you’ll find that you’re going to have a hard time finding a hostel without the help of the Internet.

Use websites to find your hostel

There are many great websites online that can assist you with your hostel search.  One of my favorite websites that I use, when looking for a hostel is HIHostels.com.  Use this website like any other website, and see if any of them meet your needs.  Each hostel will pop up with pictures, a description, and where they are located.

Look into the details

Some hostels will require that you need a membership, but others may not require it.  Generally, when you’re looking, the details will tell you if you need a membership or not.  Even if you need to get one, you can always buy one, since they are relatively cheap.

Know what you need to bring

Since all hostels vary, and you’re not staying at the Hilton, you’ll want to know exactly what you need to bring.  Do you need to bring your own sheets?  pillows?  entertainment?  Some of the hostels you try are going to be very nice, while others are going to be dumps.  This can be said about hotels as well, so make sure you do your research.

Always make that reservation

Hostels can fill up fast, and as I mentioned, I would plan your hostel stay ahead of time.  This way, when you show up, you won’t have to hear that the rooms are booked for the night.  Instead of having to worry about that, try and book your rooms ahead to time to ease your mind.
