Vacations can be expensive, and when you add everything in such as eating, sightseeing, your hotel, rental car, etc, it all adds up fairly quick.   I know that when I go on vacation, I want to sit back, and not worry about money, but yes, there are a few things that you can save on, such as eating.

How you can eat cheap on vacation…

Find a hotel with free food

Many hotels out there offer free food, and this is something you should take advantage of.  From a free continental breakfast, to a happy hour where they offer little snacks, and drinks.  This is where you can really get your bang for a buck.  You’ll have to consider that a breakfast is easily going to cost your family about $7-$15 a person.

If you do find that the hotel is offering you some sort of free food, you can always “sneak” a few snacks that will last a while back to your room.  If you have an in room refrigerator, this will work great.  Bring things like bagels, yogurts, and anything that’s basically not hot.  It will make for a great snack down the road.

Grab some coupons in the hotel

Many hotels, especially in the touristy locations have brochures sitting in the hotel lobby.  Glance through them, and look for food places that you may enjoy.  I highly recommend looking at ratings online first.  Websites such as Yelp, and TripAdvisor, are both great places when you’re looking for some reviews on food.  Grab some brochures, and look for coupons to take advantage of.  Also keep in mind that you can use  your hotel key at some places as well to get a discount.

Stop at the grocery store

If you’re going to stay in your hotel/condo for more than week or so, you’ll probably want to head down to the grocery store.  This is where you can fill up with breakfast, lunch, and dinner goods.  You don’t have to eat out for every meal, but by doing this, you’ll be able to save a few extra dollars if you’re going to stay in your room.  This is great for those that have a kitchen in their room.

Are you a fan of roller coasters?  If so, there is no better place for you than the wonderful Cedar Point.  Cedar Point offers some of the largest roller coasters in the world, and is known to be a great trip!  They offer several different roller coasters, a water park, para-sailing, jet skiing, and a lot more fun!  Cedar Point is great for many different ages, and is a trip that you’ll never forget!  So, if you’re planning a trip there, you may want to consider a few of these tips to plan!

• Try to plan your trip when the weather is nice.  Ohio is still a northern state which means it’s not always warm.  So, try to plan for a day/weekend when the weather is on the warmer side.
• Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, Ohio.  You may want to print out some directions on Google maps before you start your road trip!
• It is a great idea to stay for a weekend or for a few days during the week.  It is hard to do everything you want in just one day.  So, consider getting a hotel near by, so you can start the fun again the next morning!
• If you plan on going in the fall time, be sure to go during HalloWeekends!  This is known to be a great time, and there really is a lot to offer!
• You will also want to try and find tickets for a discounted price.  If you’re looking to save money on this trip, consider a hotel that offers a credit, or check to see if there are any discounts or coupons available for you!

If you’ve never been to Cedar Point before, you’re in for a great treat!  This is the best place to go for roller coasters, fun, and theme parks.  Even if you don’t like roller coasters there is still the water park and many other options!  You’re guaranteed to have fun when visiting Cedar Point!

Do you or your children have the dream of going to Disneyland?  If so, you may be a little hesitant because it may not be the cheapest vacation to make.  Although, the time you and your family will have will be unforgettable.  There are also different ways you can make Disneyland much cheaper, and affordable.  If you’re looking to save money on the Disneyland tickets you’re going to purchase, you may want to consider a few of these tips!

Birthday – If you didn’t know already, you can get into Disneyland for free on your birthday.  So, if you’re thinking about going with your friends or your family, make sure it’s on one of your birthdays.  Free admission is a great thing!

Discounts – You may also want to check to see if you can get any discounts through things like AAA, senior discounts, etc.  You may just want to call them up, or look on their website to see if you’re eligible for any discounts.

Hotels – Sometimes if you stay at certain hotels near Disney, you will find that hotels will give you discounts.  Some will give you a credit towards Disney, or they will give you some kind of coupon.  So, it might be a good thing to watch out for these great hotel deals!

Coupons – If you get lucky, you just might find coupons to Disneyland.  Perhaps you can find them online, in an Entertainment book, etc.  So, if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland you will want to keep your eyes open for a few weeks.  Do your searching online, and check different websites for coupons!

Getting into Disneyland for a cheaper price is definitely possible.  Not to mention, it can be free!  It all depends when you go, what deals are being offered, and if you can get any discounts towards your admission.  You always want to make sure you do your research ahead of time!

Walt Disney World can be a fun thing to look forward to, but the crowds turn some people off, and it’s understood, since so many people go there year, after year.  I’m going to give you a few tips that you can use in order to avoid those big crowds.

Always get there early - The earlier you wake up, the better it is for you.  Since so many people are there for vacation, you’re going to see that many of them lounge around, and stroll in around noon.  This is when you can really take advantage.  If you get there right when the gates open, you’ll find that there’s going to be next to no waits.  Once the park gets busy again, you’ll want to either some lunch, or do some sightseeing.  Once the evening rolls around, you’ll find that the park will die down again.

Take advantage of the perks – I’ve been to Disney World a few times, and did you know that they have a program where you can stay after hours?  It’s true!  All you need to do is stay at the Disney Resort, and they will offer you a program called “Extra Magic Hours”.  You can get in one hour before the park opens, as well as stay after.  This is great for beating those big crowds as well.

Just pick a slow time - Like anywhere in life, you’re going to find that some places are slow.  For instance, Arizona is going to be slow in summer, and Disney also has it’s slow times as well.  A great time to visit Disney would be anytime after the kids start school, or during the fall, or early winter time.

Disney crowds will always be there, but if you follow a few of these tips, you can avoid them in a way.  If you go during the peak times, there’s going to be no magic to get around them.  Try a few of these ideas, and see if they can work out for you.

Check out the local newspaper

If you’re an out of townee, you may want to grab a newspaper when you arrive to Virginia.  Once you get there, scour the newspaper for some coupons.  A lot of the times, they will run ads with coupons that you can clip out.  Keep in mind that they aren’t in there all the time, but a lot of the times you may find them in there.

Do a quick search for codes online

Since Busch Gardens will offer promotional codes here and there, the Internet is a great place to start when looking for a deal.  Do a search for things such as “Busch Gardens Williamsburg coupons, and see what comes up.  Since promotional codes expire fast, you’ll have to jump on the ones that do work, and buy them right then, and there.

Head to a local grocery store

Local grocery stores will sometimes hold promotions or even have discounts for Busch Gardens.  Places like Farm Fresh sometimes have coupons on their bags giving you exclusive discounts to the parks.  This doesn’t happen all the time, but you may want to ask before you go in, and purchase some items.

Look for other promotions

During the summer, you’re going to find the most promotions.  I would keep your eyes peeled with companies such as Coca Cola, and more.  Depending on the time of the year, will depend on what kind of discounts you’re going to get.  Since there are so many options, try a few above, and see what you can come up with!
