Whether you’re on a diet now, or you plan on being on one in the future, you probably will want to watch your weight on vacation as well.  Most of us, when we go on vacation, tend to forget all about our daily lives, and live it up.  We drink, eat until we explode, and don’t worry about work.   Even if you’re on business, you can still get out of your daily routine rather easily.

What should you do when you want to lose weight while traveling?

Eat snacks before the flight: When you’re on a flight, you’re most likely sitting there being bored, and wanting to do something.  Rather than sitting back, and eating some chips, eat before you get on.  This will reduce the urge to eat, while you’re practically doing nothing.  When you’re snacking, make sure that you’re eating 100 calorie pack snacks, in order to cut the calories down.

Plan your meals accordingly: When on vacation, or travel, we all love to eat out.  When we eat out, we generally forget about our diets.  If you want to solve this problem, simply stop at the grocery store when you get to your hotel.  Not only is this going to save you money, you’re also going to be able to eat healthier as well.  As long as your room as a refrigerator, you shouldn’t have to worry about keeping your items cool.  Buy fruits, vegetables, and any other healthy products.

Hit the hotel gym: Just about every hotel that you stay at today, has a gym in it.  Even if it has a treadmill, and bike, you should take advantage.  Hit the gym, and spend about a hour in it, in order to cut down on those calories.  You’re going to feel a lot better about yourself, as well as put your body back into shape.

Losing weight obviously takes a lot of discipline, and action.  Without these two traits, you will soon find out that it’s going to be next to impossible to lose weight.  Try your best while traveling, and great results shall come.

Virgin Island low downThe Virgin Islands is on a lot of people’s hot list when it comes to traveling, and vacations.  If you’re unfamiliar with the Islands, that’s okay, because there are millions of others that have never even been to the Virgin Islands before.

Getting to know the Islands is fairly easy, and if you’re having a hard time choosing between the three, I’m going to give you some pointers that can hopefully help you out.

What do you want to do? The first thing that you want to ask yourself is this question, “What do you want to do all day?”  Do you want to surf?  Lay on the beach?  Go out and golf?  There are so many things that each island can offer.  You’ll want to write down what peaks your interest, and then see what each island has to offer.

Low down of the Islands –

St. Thomas: St. Thomas is the most populated island of the three.  Here, you’re going to find more shops, as well as people, making it a very fast paced atmosphere, compared to the others.  You’re going to find that St. Thomas is going to offer the most, when it comes down to selection.

St. John: If you want an island that doesn’t have a lot of action, and is at a slower pace, than St. Johns would be for you.  This island is mainly a national park, that makes it great for people looking to explore, as well as hang around beaches that don’t have as many people.

St. Croix: Last but not least, St. Croix is the largest island, but you’re going to find that it’s not the busiest.  You’ll find that in a way, it’s like St. Thomas in terms of people, but it’s not going to be as crowded.  Here, you will find a lot of businesses, as well as beaches.

Research the islands websites - Now that you have a little snippet on what each island can potentially offer, you can get more information on each of their websites, located here –

Treat it like any other vacation – As usual, when you find what island works for you, research the hotels, rental car, and your airfare.  Be sure to try sites such as Travelocity in order to find a vacation package that may work for you.

When many of us think about Walt Disney World, we generally associate it with a lot of money, and something that none of us can really afford, if we don’t have the money.  Well, what if I told you that there are countless ways on ways to save money on your next trip down to Orlando, Florida.  Let me give you some tips, and tricks, so that you can save some big bucks.

Check for vacation packages - All of the main travel agency based websites online such as Priceline and others have great vacation packages.  If you’re going to go, and get a hotel, car, and fly down, you might as well buy it in a package.  Not only are you going to save money, it’s going to be easier to plan as well.

Buy your tickets ahead of time - Disney World tickets are expensive at the gate.  If you can get them ahead of time on the Internet, you’ll find that you can easily save 10-20% on your tickets.  Try the actual Disney World ticket website, as well as a few others.  Just make sure that you’re dealing with a legitimate website, because you don’t want to get scammed.

Bring your own food - Yes, the park does let you bring your own food into the park.  If you’re going to bring your kids, and others, this is generally the way to go if you’re looking to save on food, and drinks in the park.  Bring a cooler, or backpack, so that it’s easier for you to get around.

ci_discovermilesWe all love to take vacations, see friends and family, and like to hop on the plane just to get away from home once and awhile.  Or, maybe we have a job that involves traveling so getting onto an airplane is a thing you do each month.  Regardless of why you fly or why you like to, you can earn several different rewards if you take the time to learn how.

Senior discountsWhether you’re over the age of 55, or you’re going to hit that age someday (let’s hope).  Did you know that you can save money on your travelling just because you’re a senior citizen?  We all know that you can get discounts at McDonald’s, the AARP, and so much more, but many seniors pass over the chance of getting a discount on their travelling ventures.  Let me show you how it can be done.

Purchase a Senior Pass – There are so many places that you can go when you’re looking to purchase a senior pass.  Some of these places include the National Park Services, Fish Wildlife Service, USDA Forest Services, and many more.  When you’re looking to get a pass, simply bring your driver’s license, or some sort of proof, and you can get a discount.

But wait, there’s more! When you sign up for these forest passes, or such, you want to make sure that you continue to get the benefits.  You’re going to find that these passes get you into the establishments, or parks, but you’ll soon find out that you’ll have to pay for camping, boats, and more.  This is where you can get a discount again.  Many of these parks will offer their seniors an additional 50% off on their purchases inside the park.

Check with hotels - If you plan on taking a road trip, check with a few hotel chains ahead of time to see if they offer a senior discount.  Places like Marriott will offer 15% to seniors if you book online.  Places like that will allow you to save at more than 2,000 locations.  Be sure to check on Marriott’s website for more information.

These are the three routes that I would take today if you’re looking to get a discount as a senior citizen.  Try your luck with these, and see how much you can save!
