When you’re ready to plan your next vacation, you’re probably going to find out that you’re going to need a credit card in order to reserve your car.  What you’re going to find out is that you may not want to use it, or maybe you just don’t have a card.  That’s okay!

How you can rent a car without a credit card…

Get a quick prepaid credit card: Prepaid credit cards are great for those that don’t want to use their card, or maybe they just don’t have one.  Regardless of what your case is, you’ll want to highly consider applying for one.  Load the card up with some money, and use it when you book your car online.   It’s going to act just like a regular card, so you shouldn’t have any problems at all.

Use plain old cash: Yes, rental car companies will accept cash, because who’s going to deny it?  If you’re going to make your reservations online with services such as Priceline, etc, you’re going to find out that you won’t be able to do so, since they will require a credit card.  Instead, call up the company, and ask them how you can reserve, but you want to pay in cash.  Tell them your situation, and they will most likely work something out for you.

Call a travel agent: Yes, I know this sounds old school, but I can almost guarantee you that there will be an agent in your town still.  Call them up, and explain your situation.  Since they have closer ties with the rental car companies that you do, you will find that they might be able to pull some strings for you.

Of course, it’s going to help to have a credit card, and yes, I understand if you don’t have one, or don’t want to use one.  Just don’t be discouraged when you can’t find too many places that won’t confirm your registration without a credit card handy.

Whale watchingWhen looking to watch out for whales, there are a lot of places that you can go across the world to spot them.  Obviously, you’re going to have to be near the ocean to spot them, but some people just don’t know where they want to go in terms of finding them.  I did some research online, and came up with my own top 6 places to watch whales.

Cape Cod

The Atlantic waters are a hot spot for Whale watching.  Many media outlets have choose this spot as one of the best when it comes to spotting, and tours.  Try tours such as Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises.

Cape Town, South Africa

If you find yourself in South Africa, Cape Town has some of the most spectacular views.  If you ask any professional, they are going to tell you to visit this area around mid-summer to the end of the year to catch more of the action.

Hawaii

We all love the islands of Hawaii, but did you know it’s a hot destination as well to capture beautiful whale pictures?  What makes this spot unique is not only are you going to get wonderful background shots, you get nice clear shots of the crystal clear water as well.

San Diego

If you don’t feel like going out to the Islands, that’s okay, because there are places to go on the west coast such as San Diego.  The nice thing about San Diego is that you can whale watch almost all year long.  If you don’t spot a whale, there’s always SeaWorld, right?

Vancouver Island, Canada

Killer whales are a huge hit here in Canada.  If you find yourself wanting to whale watch in the North, make sure that you going during the summer months, as we all know that it gets relatively cold in the Winter.

Portugal

From whales to dolphins, Portugal is filled with a lot of great wildlife out in the great blue waters.  From the beginning of the summer to the end of the fall, capture spectacular views of sperm whales, and more.

There are obviously more places to spot whales than this, but if you find yourself wanting to go out, and spot them, these are definitely places that you want to consider.  If you want to view even more, I would highly recommend this GreenPacks.org article.

When we all fly, the first thing that we think about is most likely, “comfort”.  While a lot of us have flown before, the chances of us flying the same exact plane time after time is fairly rare.  So, what happens if you’re looking to pick out the best airline seats on board?

Do your homework – With websites such as SeatExpert, and SeatGuru, it’s not hard to find out what your plane is all about.  When you’re booking your airline ticket, you will want to make sure that you take a close look at your plane’s number.  These websites will then guide you to the worst seats on the plane.  All of these reviews will come from other passengers like you, and I.

Look at the hot spots, as well as the cold spots on the plane.  You’ll then want to choose which one will be best from you.  This is the first factor though.  Just because the spot has a good review, it doesn’t mean it’s the best seat on the plane.

Window, middle, or aisle? Ah, this is the question, and this really comes down to the personal choice for each person.  Myself, I fly a lot alone, so I like the aisle.  This way, I can get up as much as I want, and not have to worry about bothering my row, but then again, I have to worry about a flight attendant walking up and down the aisle 1,000 times.

A while ago, I wrote a post on Window vs Aisle, and gave some positive points, as well as some negative points.  Decide which one you want, but I can tell you this much that the middle seat choice is always a bad one 99.9% of the time.

Consider the little things - You may think that the exit row is a bad thing, but it generally isn’t the case.   Sure, you’ll be responsible in opening a door in case of an emergency, but you will also find that get lots of leg room.  Another thing to consider is the first row in coach, as you have no one ahead of you.  Beware though, you will soon find out that the many airlines are charging passengers as a premium policy.

Airline seats are fairly easy to pick out.  Use those website resources listed above, decide if you want an aisle, or window seat, and really, that is all that you’ll need to do.  If it’s your first time flying, and you don’t know what you’ll want, you just have to simply learn by mistakes!
