When it comes down to bringing thing on board a plane, a lot of you get awfully confused and I don’t blame you.  If I didn’t research these things, I wouldn’t know what I could and couldn’t bring on the plane.

Can I bring a razor?  Can I bring a video game?  Can my belt be made of gold?  Trust me, these questions are asked a lot and while you can use the Internet to find the answers, sometimes you just can’t get a definite answer.

Today’s question is as follows:

Can I bring a pillow onto the airplane?

To make things quick and easy, yes, you will be able to bring the pillow onto the airplane.  What you’re going to find is that you will more than likely want to pack it into your carry on, or carry it separately.  When you get to the checkpoint, you’re going to have to throw it into the x-ray machine like everything else, just to play it safe.

What kind of pillow would you recommend?

To be honest, a while ago I wrote a post on the best airline pillows out there and it has been a huge hit!  We have sent so many people to the Travelrest pillow site, where they have bought countless pillows.

These pillows are designed for travel and work wonders when you bring them on board a plane.  They fit easily in your bag and allow you to sleep comfortably while flying.  They are going to be small enough and what you will find out is that you won’t be bothering the person next to you.

Overall, bring a smaller pillow on board, as you won’t want anything too big.  By doing so, you shouldn’t have a problem bringing it on!

Let’s say that you applied for a passport, you do everything right in terms of filling out the paperwork, getting a picture, and more.  You come to find out that you have been denied with the passport.  With a lot of research, you’re probably clueless on how it happened.

I wanted to give you some certain reasons on why you could potentially be denied for a passport.

First off, your passport could be under state investigation, as well as federal investigation.  While they may not be clear on your passport in regards to why it was denied, listed below are a few reasons on why you will get denied.

  • Outstanding warrant - If you have a warrant out for your arrest.
  • Court order - If you have any type of court order, both big or small, you will be denied.
  • Arrest in foreign country - An arrest or problem that could have existed in a foreign country could lead to a denial.
  • Unpaid loans - If you owe the government any type of money, this can be denied.  Item such as taxes and more.
  • Owe child support - Owing child support can lead to a denial.
  • Under the age of 18 - With no authorization from a guardian, the passport will be denied.

These are the most common forms of denial.  If you owe any type of taxes, child support, or you have any type of criminal history, you will find that 9 times out of 10, you’re going to get denied for the passport.

Now, keep in mind that you can settle a lot of these issues when you need a passport.  When you simply pay your back taxes, etc, you will be able to get your passport in good standing.  You can call and work this out rather quick.  You can even pay over the phone with some tax departments.

While the government isn’t going to be specific on why you’re denied, there should be something that clicks that gives you a good idea on why you were denied.

If you have a trip planned soon and you’re going to be going to a country outside of the United States, you’re going to need a passport, but what happens if you have a child under the age of 1?

Do babies need passports?

To make the answer short, yes, every United States citizen, regardless of your age is going to need a United States passport.  You will need this identification to enter and leave most of the countries outside of the USAA.

To apply for a passport, it’s going to be a little more complicated today, as you can’t apply directly through the mail.  Instead, you will have to apply in person, in order to receive yours.   You will have to bring your baby, so that he/she can get their picture taken.

When you get your child’s passport, both parents or guardians will have to be present, so that they can sign the appropriate documents.  You will also need to provide evidence that you’re the guardian / parent of your child.

When you want to apply for a passport, the US Department of State has a site where you can search for a place near you, where you can get everything that you need to do in order to get your passport.  That can be found on this link.

You will also need to download this application form as well before you go in and get your pictures, as well as fill out other documentation to sign.

What documentation will I need?

You will need to follow 9 steps.  You will need to fill out the application, turn it in person, submit evidence, as well as evidence of your relationship, present IDs, a photocopy of yourself, provide consent, and pay the fee.  You can get detailed instructions here.

You will find that the process takes a while, but if you know the steps before heading in, you will find that the process is going to be a lot easier for you.

The Internet is a massive place and if you want to purchase some airline tickets soon, I gathered up a few people and asked them where they purchase the cheapest tickets online.  While some people are loyal to particular airlines, some tend to switch around.

Listed below are some sites that you should check out when you want to get the lowest airline fares possible.

#1 Go direct - Let’s say that you want to book through Delta.  If you want to purchase a ticket through them, check out their site, and book through them.  You will find that 9 times out of 10, they are going to have the cheapest rates.

#2 Kayak - I love Kayak.  What you will do is input where you’re flying to, as well as what airport, and from there, you will get a calendar on the right hand side showing you the cheapest days to fly.

#3 Travelzoo - If you want the best airline deals possible, you will find that Travelzoo is the best place to go.  Every Wednesday, you will get fantastic deals across the globe.  You can also find killer airfare deals here too.

#4 AirfareWatchDog - The thing I like about this site is that they will keep you posted of deals in the future.  This is a great way to stay up to date on airfares, if you’re not in a hurry to buy them.  They also have a great application for phones as well.

#5 CheapTickets.com - Cheap Tickets is a great place to check as well.  I have found that they have some great deals sometimes.  Don’t just check this site, but check others as well when doing so.

Tips to use as well…

  • Buy in the non-peak season - You’re going to find that the Summer will have some expensive prices.  Consider flying in the fall or spring time to save some money.
  • Buy on non-peak days – Tuesdays and Wednesdays are your best bet when trying to get the cheapest day.
  • Join the frequent flyer programs – Every airline has a free program that you can join.  Be sure to join to take full advantage of the program and get rewarded for your spending.
  • Compare – Always check at least 3-4 sites to find the best deal.  One site may not be the best deal here and there.   It’s always best to compare.

Saving money on your airline tickets really isn’t that hard.  Try out these tips and see how much you can save.  You will find that you can save a good amount of money when you do comparisons.
