When we’re unfamiliar with something it is always a good thing to get some tips beforehand. If you’ve never been to an airport, or it has been quite some time, you may want to keep a few things in mind. Going to an airport can be pretty confusing and foreign if you haven’t gone in a while or if you’ve never been there before. Take this tips below into consideration to make your stop at the airport much easier and less stressful.
- Always arrive early – We often underestimate how long things will take. It is always a good thing to be early, especially when it comes to your flight. The last thing you want to do is rush to get there and miss it because you were late.
- Have someone drop you off – If you can, always have someone drop you off at the airport. When we drive down there and then have to leave our car in the parking lot, we can easily spend a load of money. If you’re going for a weekend trip it is fine, but if you’re taking a 10 day vacation, you may want someone to drop you off.
- Go to your gate early – It is always a good thing to familiarize yourself with your gate and where it is at. Make sure you are at the right one and read the TV screen in the gate to make sure you’re at the right number. Sometimes airports change the number which can be confusing and may make you miss your flight. ALWAYS check to make sure it is the right one!
- Watch your carry ons – Watch what you put in your carry on bag. You’re not allowed to put more than 3 ounces of liquids in your carry on. So if you’re planning on taking water bottles, hair products, expensive perfumes don’t put them in your carry on or they will be thrown away.
- Bring entertainment – If you know that you’re going to have to wait a while, bring something to entertain you. This could be a magazine, a book, a Nintendo game, anything that will keep you happy and entertained. Some of the costs in the airport are expensive and if you can avoid spending money, I say do it!
- Check in – Always try and use the self check in. It is very easy to do, is much quicker and it is a great way to avoid the long lines. If you need some help, just ask someone at the desk.
- Mark your suitcases and belongings – Once you hand over your bags that you’re putting on the plane, make sure you put your name and address on them. Suitcases can be lost from switching plane to plane so it is important to identify your bag. This way they can send you your bag through the mail if it was lost.
Going to the airport isn’t hard but it does take some time to get used to it. If you want to make your trip there easy and as simple as possible, be sure to keep these tips in mind!
