When you are about to take your trip boarding the airplane until you get off again there are certain rules of etiquette that followed will make your flight much more safe and comfortable. When one knows and follows the rules of etiquette then each passenger also feels much more comfortable. One of the first things we should talk about is the armrest space since there are normally only two armrests for three seats. It only stands to reason that we have one too few armrests and we need to share. Remember if you are setting in the middle seat that does not give you the right to use both armrests. You do not want to come off as a hog when it comes to using the armrests.
When you place your baggage in the overhead do not touch other people’s luggage this is an absolute no. Only two people have a right to touch the luggage and that is the owner and the airline personnel. It is usually the best policy to go to the bathroom before you board the airplane but if you do find that you have to go try to be as courteous as possible. It is an inconvenience to be constantly popping up and down crossing over the other passengers to go to the bathroom. One of my pet peeves is those who those who try to use my seat as a footrest or a pillow. Please the seat next to you is not yours so do not try to use it as a prop. If at all possible try not to use your cell phone that is a big nuisance but if you do use your indoor voice. Not everyone on the plane wants to hear your conversation nor cares what cousin so and so did last night. Your business is your business and sharing your cell phone conversation is annoying.
When you do plan on taking a trip it is wise not to drink. Drinking and flying often do not mix just like drinking and driving. It is true you’re not flying the plane but you see most people who drink get very annoying. When you are flying with your children please go prepared and don’t expect the other passengers to become there entertainment. You should bring along quiet toys, books, and puzzles for your children to play with during their flight. This is just some of the common sense rules of etiquette that if adhere by everyone would make travel by airplane a pleasant journey.
