Airline foodWhen you’re flying for the first time or even the 100th time, there are some things that you should know about airline food.  For one, the food isn’t the greatest so if you’re hungry on a flight, you can count on getting some 1 star quality based foods.

Always check ahead of time

When you book your flight, see what the airline is offering on your flight.  If you’re flying for more than 3 hours, you can probably count on getting a snack.  If it’s over 6 hours, you might get a meal.  Check with your airline to see if you’re getting food.  It will tell you online.  This way you can prepare for it but be aware that some airlines charge you.

Bring your cash

If you’re going to pay with cash, bring a lot of singles or fives just to make sure that you have exact change.  Most airlines don’t carry a lot of change on the flight.  If you have a credit card, you may be out of luck since many airlines don’t accept a credit card but some do.  If I were you, I would just bring cash to play it safe.

See what they offering

This kind of plays with the first option but see what the airline is offering ahead of time.  If they offering free snacks like peanuts or a cookie, you might get disappointed because you’re not going to get a lot.  If they are offering something for a price, try and grab something ahead of time to bring on the plane.

Look for a potential alternative

Before you fly for a long time, you might want to check with the airline to see if there’s an alternative meal.  For example, if you’re a part of a certain religion, you may find that they have a meal catered particular for you.  You may have to check well ahead of time though just to make sure that you can get that meal.  Most of the times, these meals are better than what you’d usually get.

Overall, airline food isn’t the greatest but it’s something especially if it’s free.  If you have to pay money, I would recommend you get something before you board.  The food is going to be expensive and not even worth it.
