Airline Travel for Seniors Tips
posted by FindAirlineCards.com
Today traveling has become more pleasurable for senior citizens than it has ever been in the past. Often senior citizens find it difficult to get ahead of the crowd and board the plane. It seems that getting from one gate to another in order to transfer was a major problem as well. Now it is not a problem for seniors to travel on board most airlines.
The airlines have made great strides over the years to accommodate seniors and the disabled by providing personal care services. First in most cases seniors and the disabled are permitted to board the plane first and assistance is given to them by a flight attendant if it is needed. The ones who are in a wheel chair are normally put on the plane by the flight attendant. After the seniors and disabled have boarded then others may board the plane.
Next when it comes to transferring to another plane that is no problem for the seniors and handicapped. The airlines provide special shuttle carts that pick up the ones who need to go from one gate to the other and take them there. The seniors and handicapped no longer have to walk any distance instead they are picked up after they get off the plane and taken directly to the new gate. The luggage can be checked in advance or if need be taken along the airline attendants make sure that the luggage travels with the person. All these accommodations make it very simple for anyone who is disabled or a senior to be able to fly just about any place that they would like to go.
Many times people need to go to the bathroom or get hungry but this poses no problems for them when they are going by plane. The airlines usually provide meals on board the plane and there is a bathroom on board as well. The airline flight attendants help the seniors and disabled to be accommodated with anything they need. The airline provides refreshments and often there is a movie that the people can watch for entertainment. When you do get off the plane in the airport you will find many different shops. The airport has restaurants, coffee shops, bars, gift shops etc that anyone can use while they are waiting for their ride or to transfer to the next gate. The flight for seniors and the disabled has become very easy to do and comfortable to take.
