Airline travel with kids can be a rough one, especially is they are younger and it’s hard to keep them entertained. If you have some older children, you probably won’t have to worry as much. Children in today’s society need countless entertainment, and it’s the end of the world when it comes to sitting around for five minutes. So, when it comes to your children and the airport, here are some tips that you can use.
Always keep your eye on them: The airport is a big place, and you can lose your kids rather fast. I know it sounds stupid, but I would recommend you look into getting a child leash, especially if they are younger. This will not only let you know where they are, it will make it easier to drag your children around the airport itself.
Bring entertainment: A child is not going to last on the airplane if he/she doesn’t have any sort of entertainment. I would advise that you bring a bag filled with their favorite books, and toys. Whether you have to bring some coloring books or action figures, think of some things that they can play around with while travelling.
Bring snacks and drinks: When bringing food and drinks, make sure you know of what you can bring on a plane when it comes to liquids. Yes, most flights will give you drinks and snacks, but it may not be enough for your child when they are looking for food right now.
Bring their favorite blanket: Airline pillows and blankets are awful, and it today’s world, they will charge you for one. One of the best things that I do while flying is sleeping. You will probably find that your child will fall asleep as well. If you bring their favorite blanket or pillow, this will only make it easier for them to fall asleep on the plane.
Book a non-stop flight: Children usually want to board the plane once, as well as take off and land once. If you take a flight that’s non-stop, it’s going to be more work for you. Even if you have to pay a few extra dollars per ticket, I would advise that you do so.
Always give yourself time: Even if you’re not flying with children, you have to get to the airport early. You’ll have to park, get your tickets, go through security, and so much more. Try and get to the airport at least two to three hours early.
Airline travel can be a tough one with kids. These tips alone can make the process a little easier. Try some of these tips out, and let’s hope your child likes their flight.
