Camping for vacationIn this economy, everyone and their families want to save money on vacations, and I don’t blame you!  While you don’t want to be too cheap, and not go at all, there are many alternatives that you can do, and save a lot of money while you’re at it.  Here are some ideas that you can use in order to have fun, and save money at the same time.

Campgrounds: State campgrounds are very reasonable when it comes to taking a vacation.  You don’t need a RV to have fun.  Instead, grab a tent, and some friends, and spend the weekend at a campground.  For as little as $5 a night, you can enjoy the outdoors, while roughing it.  It sure does beat a $100 a night hotel room!

Research websites: Websites like Essortment have a great list of family vacations that you can take that will run you less than $800.  Look at the list, and find a state that you’re interested in.  From there, you’ll be able to see what it would cost you to take your family there for some fun times at a reasonable rate!

Head off to family: If you have family out of state, this is a great time to visit them.  You won’t want to visit for too long, because they do have a life, and job.  I generally recommend that you visit for 3-4 days, and give them a notice.  If you stretch it past 4 days, I think that’s too much to invade on family space.

Your own backyard: Did you know that you don’t even need to go anywhere when you want to take a vacation?  Instead of heading out to another state, consider your own backyard.  Check out attractions, and see what there is to do in your own city.  Even if you have to travel a few hours, it beats a plane ticket.

Vacations don’t need to be $1,000, and if you use your mind, and you’re creative, you can think of some great ideas when it comes time to plan a vacation.  Try out some of these ideas, and see how much fun your family can truly have!
