There are many airlines that offer good ways to find the seat you want. For example some might offer you early arrival pick meaning when you arrive you will be asked to pick from the seats left so the earlier you are the better seat you have. Also you could fly with an airline that does not have assigned seating. That way when you get on the plane you have a choice on where you have your flight regardless of the amount you paid for you ticket.

Fly with a child

This helps in many ways to if you have a child with you most of the time when you ask someone to please move over or trade you seats they will just because the fact that you have a younger one with you that you need to take care of. If that doesn’t help you always have the chance to board first when you are with a child on any flight.

Fly first class

When you fly first class you can always get a really nice seat even if it’s not the one you were looking for. It would be much better than seating in between two people at the back of the plane next to the stinky restroom. Who knows you might even meet someone you idolize.

Last resort

If it comes right down to it and you can’t get a good seat just sit down anywhere and wait it out. When the seat belt sign goes off you can pretend to use the restroom and when you come back there is a chance the person you were sitting by will not want to get up to let you back in, he or she might just slide into your seat leaving the better one open for you.
