Buying Travel Insurance The Smart Way
posted by FindAirlineCards.com
Planning a trip can be tough and the last thing you want to think about is travel insurance. Each year, thousands of passengers wish they would have purchased a health insurance package when they traveled to another country. When you travel to another country and something bad happens to you health wise, you have to remember that you’ll be treated on their soil, so most likely, your health insurance will be useless. This is when travel insurance comes in handy. I’m going to show you a few tips you should take in order to find the perfect travel insurance.
Who do you want to cover?
The first thing you want to do is determine how many people are going to be covered. Most experts will tell you that you should cover everyone going on the trip. I would tend to agree with this. So, if you’re travelling with your wife and kids, you best insure the whole family or else you might be regretting it later. Just because you have a young kid and he’s healthy doesn’t mean he’s not going to trip and fall face first on the concrete somewhere.
Check out at least 3 insurance companies
Just like anything else you buy in life, you always want to do comparison shopping. You never want to just apply for the first policy you see because chances are there will be a better rate somewhere else. I highly recommend you get at least three quotes before you sign the dotted line, you’ll be thankful in the end.
Look out for details
Some main details travellers come across when they purchase travel insurance is that they want 24/7 support in case of an emergency and they also want a cancellation option, just in case you cancel your vacation. If your policy offers both of these options, you’re picking out a decent package. If they can’t offer the 24/7 support, I would recommend you check out someone else.
Save the paperwork!
Just in case something goes wrong on your vacation, you’re going to want to have proof for your insurance company just in case they deny anything. We all know how insurance companies act and they just love the word, “no”. If you can save your paperwork, this will help you out with your argument if something bad does go wrong with you and the company. If something does go wrong with the company, make sure you let the world know.
