The most popular question that many of us ask, and really don’t know the answer to. So, do you tip your maid if you’re staying in a hotel room? The answer is simple, and it really is up to you, and how good of a job he/she is doing.
Look at how you’re using the room
Many travellers will tell you that it’s polite to leave a tip in your room. The average tip for a maid is anywhere from $3-5 a night. If your room is dirtier than most, you may want to leave a little bit more. You may also want to keep in mind that you’re going to most likely get a new maid each, and every night.
Tip to get things you want
If you want new towels, or you want something extra, the best way to get this is by leaving a little tip, and leaving a note on how good of a job they are doing. For example, if you wanted an extra towel, leave a few dollars, and tell them how great they are doing at cleaning the room.
What if you don’t tip
If you don’t tip, you most likely won’t get poor service, as I said before, you’re going to get a different maid each and every night. If you’re going to stay for more than a couple days, you may want to leave a few dollars here and there for the maid for the job they are doing, since they don’t get paid that much.
How do I tip?
When you want to leave a tip, either set the money on the bed, or leave a note on the desk with some money attached. 99% of the time they will get it, and will appreciate it.
