Finding a vacation homeIf you plan on taking a vacation soon, you may soon find out that renting a vacation home is a lot cheaper than going through a hotel itself.  Now, if you’re not familiar with renting a vacation home, you’re probably wondering how you do it?

Let me give you some tips when it comes down to finding the perfect vacation rental home.  If you follow these tips, I can assure you that you’ll find a great place to stay, and enjoy your vacation all at once.

Always look for pictures - When you’re on the hunt for vacation homes online, always look for pictures.  I would never rent from someone that doesn’t have a picture online.  Always make sure that there are pictures, and if you need more, never hesitate to contact the owner, or company for more information.

Know what you’re getting – A good vacation home owner will describe the property to a tee, and tell you exactly what you’re going to get.  If you know what you want, make sure that the property has it.  For example, if you want three bedrooms, check and make sure that the three bedrooms are included, and not two, etc.

Compare prices in the area - Just like buying a home, you don’t want to jump on the first vacation home you see.  If you do this, you may find that you jumped too quick, and overpaid.  You don’t want to pay $500/week, when you could have rented something similar down the road for $300.  Always price compare when researching.

Who are you dealing with? When you want to rent a vacation home, know who you are dealing with.  Are you dealing with a 3rd party, or are you dealing with the owner itself?  A 3rd party may not be able to answer questions, as well as the owner, so make sure you know who you’re dealing with, so that you get the right answers.

If you don’t know where to turn when looking for vacation homes, try out VRBO, a vacation spot solely listed by owners, or VacationHomeRentals.com.  Both of these sites should give you a great listing of places that you would like to stay.
