Texas is a big state and since there are so many cities, it’s always hard to know what do when you’re in Texas.  Today, I’m going to pinpoint Beaumont, Texas and show you all a few points of interest that may be interesting to you when you’re in Beaumont the next time you visit.  Even though there’s not a whole lot to do compared to bigger cities, there are a few things that can help pass an afternoon away.

Big Thicket National Preserve

If the outdoors is what you and your family enjoys, you’ll want to spend the day at the Big Thicket National Preserve.  This 86,000 acre park ran by the U.S. Department of Interior has many activities for you to enjoy.  Some of the activities that you’ll find here include backpacking, biking, bird watching, horseback riding, swimming, and so much more.  Anything you can think of that’s outdoor related, you’ll find here!

Art Museum of Southeast Texas

If you love anything art, you’ll want to head to downtown Beaumont, where you’ll find the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.  With over a 1,000 pieces of art.  You’re going to find art pieces from the 19th, 20th, and 21st century.  From paintings to sculptures, this art museum will help pass a few hours.  Be sure to check ou their website for special events if you plan on attending.

The McFaddin-Ward House

From the early 1900′s era, the McFaddin-Ward house is for those that love to look at older homes.  Here, you’ll be able to explore the architecture and it will be almost as if you were living in this era.  The McFaddin-Ward house was built in 1906 by an oil family.  Not only will you be able to tour the house, you can also browse the beatufiul landscaping around the house like the flowerbeds and lawns.
