When travelling via any airline, one will always want to sit in first class, rather than in coach.  Sure, first class does have a lot of advantages, but you have to understand that if you want particular perks, you’re going to have to pay the price to get them.  When you’re looking to get upgraded to first class without having to pay a penny, there are some great tips that you can follow to ensure that you get a great deal.

Just pay for the upgrade:  You’ll find that some tips and tricks don’t work when it comes down to getting upgraded for free.  If you’ve found out that your tricks aren’t working, and you really want to sit in first class, you may just want to pay for it at the counter.  If you pay the day of your flight, you may pay a lot less money compared to if you paid a few months in advance.

Simply ask for it:  When you get to your terminal, ask the attendant if you can get an upgrade to first class for free.  You’ll want to ask if there’s a waiting list or not.  If there is, you can ask to have your name put on it.  This way, if one of the passengers don’t show up, you may get your chance at snagging a seat for a great price.

Get bumped off your flight:  You’ll find that a lot of the times that airlines overbook their flights.  What does this mean for you?  It’s going to mean that you’re able to get bumped off your flight, some airlines will give you a complimentary upgrade, as well a potential overnight stay.  This can be a pain though, since you won’t be able to get on the flight you wanted in the first place.

Upgrading to first class is usually hard, when you want to do it for free.  If you’re willing to pay for the slot, most of the times you’ll get it, if it’s opened.  If it isn’t, you’re going to be out of luck, and you’ll just have to fly coach!
