The last thing that I want to do is purchase my ticket online and find out that my trip is going to take 13 hours through the air. Man, that is a lot of flying! While many of us can’t sleep that well on a plane, I highly, highly recommend that you bring some sort of entertainment.
If you don’t bring any entertainment on the flight, you will find that it’s going to be the worst 13 hours of your life.
After doing some research online, I’ve come up with a few ideas that you can use, in order to keep yourself occupied while flying.
Check with the airline - See which plane that you’re flying online. You can generally check your airline ticket online for the model of your airplane. Google that plane and see if they offer in flight entertainment. I’ve been on some great Delta flights that offered cable TV, in flight games, movies, and more. This kept me busy for hours. If your flight has this, consider yourself very lucky.
Bring a magazine - DON’T purchase the magazine in the airport, because you’re going to pay an arm and leg for one stupid issue. Instead, you will want to bring magazines from home. I would recommend that you bring a magazine for every hour you’re on board.
Portable DVD Player - It doesn’t have to be a portable DVD Player, but bring something that can play movies. Load up a few movies, bring your headphones and keep yourself occupied.
Video Games – There are a lot of portable gaming systems that you can bring on board. The Nintendo DS, PSP, and more.
Laptop - There are some flights that have wi-fi built right into their flights. What you will find though is that most of them don’t allow you to charge your laptop. There’s a good chance it won’t last 13 hours+.
Music - Your iPod, Zune, or whatever it may be. Bring some favorite tunes on board and listen to them.
Crossword / Brain Books - Go to your local dollar store and pick up little books that twist your brain. If you like crossword puzzles, bring these on board as well.
Don’t rely on chatting with others, because they probably don’t want to talk to you. Things such as puzzles and more won’t work either.
Be courteous to others and the more entertainment you bring, the better your flight is probably going to be!
