We all know that airline fees can kill us when it comes to travel time but there are things that you can do in order to avoid those pesky fees. I’m going to show you a few tips today that can help you cut back on those airline fees.
Use websites first- When you’re looking for your plane ticket, use websites like Kayak or FareCast to get airline ticket information. These websites will usually find the best prices for you when it comes to travelling. The kicker here is that you DON’T want to purchase it through the airline itself, which brings me to point 2.
Book through the airline- When you find the cheapest deal on the websites mentioned above, you’ll want to go to the airlines website directly to purchase those tickets. Why is this? Sites like Expedia, Travelocity, etc will charge you a travel agent fee. When you book direct, you’re not going to see these fees at all.
Check for cancellation fees – If you’re not sure on your upcoming trip, you may want to look at the cancellation fees. Many airlines will not let you cancel your airline ticket. If you’re unsure of your trip, you should check with airlines that aren’t going to charge you these fees.
Bring carry on – Many airlines will charge you for checked in luggage now. If you’re not going to be on vacation for a while, I would recommend you bring on some carry on luggage. Most airlines won’t charge you for carry on.
Bring your own food – Just like the carry on, a lot of airlines today are going to charge you for food and drinks. I know they used to be free but in order to cut costs, they have tacked on charges with food.
Read the terms and conditions – Since most airlines are different, it’s important that you read the terms and conditions. It may seem like a bunch of gibberish but there will be some notes in there that will alert you of some fees you may not know about.
These are the main fees that you should be aware of when it comes down to avoiding airline fees. Make sure that you do your research when it comes to saving money because there are always ways around some fees.
