Highlight your skills

Airline companies will love that fact that you have experience. On top of this, also make sure you note any of the following –
- CPR Certifications
- Foreign language knowledge
- Military experience
- Public speaking exxperience

The more credentials you have, the better your chances are of getting hired.
Start sending the resumes
Once you get all of your highlights pointed out on your resume, make sure that you have someone read it over before you actually send it out. You may find that you may have a few minor mistakes that you didn’t notice. Once everything is approved, start sending your application to every airline company out there. Make sure that you make note of the position you’re applying for. There are a ton of airline companies out there, make sure you know where to send the resumes.
Where Do I Find Flight Attendant Openings?
If you don’t want to send the resumes out to all the companies, that’s ok. Instead, you’ll want to target the companies that are looking for flight attendants. Airlines are always looking for these positions and it’s actually quite easy to find the openings. Places you can find openings are as follows –
- Newspaper (check the classifieds on Sundays)
- Online (places like Hotjobs.com and Monster.com)
- Career Fairs
- Magazines
The hiring process
The hiring process for a flight attendant is no different than any other job you would apply for. Make sure you come dressed appropriately, don’t show any tattoes, come with a great attitude, and come as if you’re going to get the job. A company wants to hire a person with a great personality and the willingness to learn and work at 110%.
Insiders say that there are some differences in the application process and you may find that the company will ask you to stand up and speak in front of a crowd and/or they may also ask your some airline specific questions / scenarios such as, “If there was a disgruntled passenger, how would you calm them down during a flight?”"
Becoming a flight attendant is no different than applying for a job as a customer service representative. Just make sure you do your research and find the companies that are hiring. Even if they don’t have an opening, it doesn’t hurt to send in your resume! It never hurts. Remember, becoming a flight attendant doesn’t require any college degree and the only it requires is motivation and willingness to fly all the time.

Actually, a college degree is preferred. Most flight attendants in the U.S. have college degrees and a large percentage speak at least 1 additional language. College grads with lots of customer service experience get picked over anyone else.

I have to agree with Chris — speaking an additional language and having a college degree pretty much gets you in the door (of course, you have to smile).
Good luck to you!

While a college degree and languages do help, the minimums are a high school diploma and at least 18 years of age, or up to 21 for some airlines.
With more competition for the job thesedays, the more you can bring to the table the better.
