Everyone loves to find a great travel deal, and if you’re one of the many this year that’s going to take a trip, there are some things that you should know, before you go out, and purchase your tickets, or travel package.

Buy airline tickets as early as possible

Of course when buying tickets you may not buy them as soon as they come available since the trip may be spur of the notice. However, if you are planning a trip for six or more months ahead, go ahead and buy the tickets right when you decide to plan the trip. The longer the flight date is from the current date, the cheaper the tickets will be. I sleep on plane rides so I don’t really care who I fly with. Pick a cheaper option like Southwest over the big names of Delta and Continental; you are just paying for their name. Unless you get first class, coach is always coach, or as they call it “the economy class.”

Use the Internet to find deals

The internet has great sites like priceline.com or hotels.com to book cheap airfare or hotels. These sites check the rates of all the hotels, and give you a rate. Hotels compete with each other on these sites to get your business, so the rates are naturally lower than if you were to walk into a hotel on a Friday night and say I need two rooms. It is much easier when you go online, way in advance, and book a room or two at that time. You enjoy piece of mind and a cheaper price.

Leave during the middle of the week

Many people travel after they get done with their work week on Friday, but that is the busiest time to fly. Naturally, airlines are not dumb; they raise their prices on these times. If you can fly during the middle of the week, not only will you see less time checking in and getting to your flight, but the price can be potentially hundreds less.
