If you’re planning on travelling to Mexico anytime soon and you’re worried about your budget or you simply want to save some money, I’ll give you some tips on how you can pay next to nothing while you’re enjoying the beautiful culture in Mexico. No matter where you go in Mexico, you’re going to find that most beaches and cities work the same way. If you implement any of these tips, I can almost guarantee you that you’ll save some money and feel good at the end of your vacation.
Take the bus – Many people think that they either have to take a cab, rent a car or use other methods of transportation. You’ll be amazed at how much you can save by simply taking the bus. The bus is very safe and you’ll most likely see tourists like yourself on the bus as well. As long as you’re in a bigger city, you’ll be able to spot buses that will take you about anywhere.
Find the hole in the walls – When I say this, I’m talking about food. Honestly, the best food I’ve ever had was at the little mom and pop shops on the side of the road. Sure, you’re probably worrying about your safety but my rule of thumb is that if you see others eating there, it’s good! Don’t waste all of your money eating out at fancy restaurants. Instead, treat yourself to some local flavor and avoid those corporate food chains you can find back at home.
Research your hotels online – Before you make your trip, make sure you research your hotels online. Look at reviews and other factors when it comes to saving money. Don’t book the cheapest hotel all the time because you’ll generally get what you pay for. Instead, look at what other people say about it and also look at what kind of features you’re going to get. If you’re getting a cheap hotel and it only has 5 rooms on the side of some road, you’re asking for a disaster.
Check out the flea market – Mexico is known for their flea markets. These markets are packed with anything you can think of. The nice thing about them is that you generally don’t have to pay full price. If you find something that you enjoy, bargain, don’t pay full price!
Mexico shouldn’t be any different than any other vacation. Do your research online when it comes to shopping for a hotel and look around for places to eat and things to do. You don’t have to be a penny pincher everywhere because if you can barely afford the vacation, you’re not going to enjoy yourself. Instead, think of creative ways to enjoy yourself and have a great time enjoying the sights and sounds of Mexico.
