How to Travel with Pets via the Air
posted by FindAirlineCards.com
In today’s society, there are a lot of people who treat their animals as if it were their own son or daugher. These are the people who bring thier ainmals everywhere, even including the air via an airline. If you’re one of these people, there are a few things you should keep in mind before you bring your pet to the airport.
The Safe Pet Air Travel Guide – The Humane Society of America has made a webpage that’s filled with a ton of information on how you can travel with a pet properly. It goes though a few questions you should ask yourself along with tips on keeping your pet safe at all times. If you haven’t read this article yet, I recommend you do.
Identify your pet – Before you head out to the airport, make sure that your pet has identification everywhere. Make sure that your pet has a collar with a name tag that includes all of thier information including their name, address, and phone number. You will want to put every option of contacting you on there. Also, make sure that their carrier also has the same information.
Prepare the carrier – If your pet is small enough to fit on the plane, make sure that you bring a few snacks and little thing of water that the animal can drink out of. Remember, that you have to have common courtesy of others. This means keep your animal underneath your seat at all times and never take it out. There may be people on the plane that are allergic or just don’t simply want to bother with it. If you can, allow your pet to fly with the baggage.
Bring a photo – If you find that you’re having problems finding your pet, you may want to bring a photo of your animal. The reason you’ll want to do this is because you’ll be able to show an agent what your animal looks like so it’ll be easier to locate them.
The Humane Society of America recommends that you don’t travel with your pet via the air unless it’s extremely neccessary such as relocation. If you’re going to travel just for a vacation, they recommend you look for either a house sitter or a boarding kennel. There’s no need to take your animal on the vacation, they will not enjoy it!
