With the Internet as big as it is today, I’m not sure of anyone that uses a travel agent anymore to plan their next trip. Now, before you start saying you know people who do use one, I’m not saying nobody does, I just don’t know anybody. If you’re anti-Internet or you just like a travel agent to help arrange your trips, I’ll show you a few tips you can look at to determine if your travel agent is good enough for your money.
Can they answer all of your demands?
No matter what kind of demands you have, a good travel agent should be able to meet them. So, if you want to have a ocean front beach house in Florida with 3 beds, that agent better get it for you. If they constantly make up excuses, start running because they obviously don’t know what they are doing.
Are you getting a good deal?
When you get the final price tag, does it sound like a good deal or is the agent throwing in a bunch of incentives to make them the most money? If it sounds like your trip is going to be a little too much, it probably is. A great travel agent isn’t going to rip you off, instead, he/she is going to give you the best deal possible and not think of their commissions first.
Can they answer your questions?
Every good travel agent is going to be able to answer every question you have, no matter what question it is. So, if you have a question about Hawaii, they are going to be able to get that answer for you no matter what it takes. If it takes a while to get an answer or they simply never get you one, you may have an uninformed agent.
In the end, a good travel agent is going to be able to answer all of your demands, no matter what they are. In the beginning of your search, a travel agent should be able to find you the best desination and deal possible. As I mentioned above, the Internet is HUGE now when it comes to travel but it never hurts to stop by a travel agency and see what they have to offer, sometimes you may be surprised with their prices.
