No matter where you travel, you probably are going to bring some luggage on board because we need our everyday essentials like clothes, toothpaste, etc.  While it’s nice to just bring carry-on luggage, we always can’t do this, so this means we have to check our luggage in at the airport.  Ever year, thousands of people lose their luggage and while you can prevent some situations, there are some tips you can take in order to prevent lost luggage.

Place tags on luggage - Most luggage bags come with a little tag that’s attached to the bag.  On this tag, it’s important that you write down all of your information.  You should write your name, address, phone number, and it also doesn’t hurt to leave little things such as an e-mail just in case someone can’t get ahold of you via the phone.

Add something unique – When you’re waiting at the baggage carosuel, youll probably notice that every bag looks the same.  Most bags are either black or some other common color.  In order to make your bag stick out, simply stick some ribbon on it or a sticker.  In the end, just make it stick out so that when it comes by, somebody doesn’t accidentally grab it.

Always be on time – When you’re flying, always make sure that you make your flight on time.  if you find yourself getting there at the last minute, you may find that your bag won’t get on the airplane on time.  The earlier you get there, the better chances your bag gets thrown on the plane.

Keep valuables in a carry on – If at all possible, make sure you bring a carry on as well.  In this carry on bag, you should keep everything in there that you will need the next day like medicine, toothpaste, etc.  This way, if you lose your bags for more than 24 hours, you’ll have some common necessities to get you by for the day.

Take a photo – Before you check your bags in, take a quick picture with your cellphone or a camera.  This way, if you lose your bag, you can show one of the airline employees a picture so that it can make the process a little easier.
