Spotting an Airline Ticket Scam
posted by FindAirlineCards.com
With the internet as big as it is today, many people resort to buying many things online. What most people don’t realize is that not every purchase is going to be perfect. There are many people out there that are looking to make a quick buck and in order to make that quick buck, they turn to you and scam you out of your hard earned cash. Let’s take a look at how scammers can scam you online –
Watch out for Craigslist – Craigslist.org is one of the biggest spammer portals. Even though the website has tried to cut down on the scammers, they still exist out there. If you’re going to use this website to buy your airline ticket, use it with caution.
Too good to be true – If you find a classfied ad or Craigslist ad that sounds way too good to be true for the deal, it probably is. In order to make sure the tickets are legit, you’re going to want to e-mail the seller and ask them a few questions. You’re going to want to ask all the details about the ticket. If the seller demands the money first, you’ll want to steer clear of this.
Buying the tickets – If you thought you received a great deal and you have your tickets in hand, you may be expecting a call from the airliner itself. A common scam online is for the scammer to purchase the airline ticket with a stolen credit card, turn around and sell it. By the time you get the airline ticket, the scammer is long gone and you’re out a ticket and your cash.
Watch the terms – Most airlines don’t allow the transfer of airline tickets, so make sure that the airline you’re purchasing from allows a buyer to transfer to another name. This person may not be a scammer but you may find that you purchase the tickets and you can’t transfer it to your name
