While being pregnant, you’re going to find that you’re going to have many questions. From what can you eat, to can I fly? While I’m no medical professional, I want you to always seek advice from your primary care OB/GYN. He/she will always be able to tell you whats best for you.
Now, I did a little research online to tell you what others are saying about flying pregnant. Below are some questions that many people have asked, as well as answered.
Is it safe to fly?
Many OB/GYNs are going to tell you that is fairly safe to fly while being pregnant. You can’t let a 8-10 week pregnancy get in the way of your travels. Those that are business workers may have to travel on occasions and that’s fine. What you’re going to find out is that OB/GYNs are going to say that you should stay grounded at 36 weeks and beyond. You will never know once you hit this mark, because you never know when you’re going to have that baby!
Look into airline restrictions
Believe it or not, some airlines will stop you from flying, if you’re a certain amount of days away from your due date. Most airlines are going to restrict you if you’re within 30 days. You have to look at it from their side though, because what happens if you have a baby 30,000 feet above the air? There’s a good chance that there won’t be a Doctor on board.
Should I fly?
Many pregnant women may not to fly, even in their earlier stages because you’re going to find out that you may experience some side effects. Sure, not all women are created equally, I know that. What happens if you have morning sickness? What happens if your bladder is being pushed down and someone is in the bathroom? These are all questions that you need to ask yourself. Lets not forget that if you’re going to fly coach, it isn’t going to be that comfortable.
If you do decide to fly, you’re going to want to make sure that you bring yourself plenty of liquids, as well as food. You will also want to make sure that you wear loose fit clothing. You don’t need to dress fancy to impress the others on board. All you should care about is yourself.
If you do decide that this is the route you’re going to take, make sure that you get your OB’s approval before doing anything!
