Being as close to a whale may be fun for us, but not necessarily to the whales according to research. Both humpbacks and orcas are pletiful as are smaller cetaceans such as dalls and harbor porpoise. This is the only place in the world to observe bubble net feeding, a unique method developed by humpbacks. A couple local operators will take you kayaking at Point Adolphus. If you're lucky like I was, humpbacks may come within a paddle-length of your boat. Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia - Many of the western pacific humpback whales migrate through Hervey Bay. There are lots of boats to choose from. One of my dreams is to be able to join The Oceania Project's week-long Whale & Dolphin Expedition. A couple of additions:
