Always do your homework

If you’re loyal to an airline, you may want to look at other airlines, just based on the pricing alone.  You may find that the airline that you like is going to be the most money, and it’s going to hurt you.  Travel agents will recommend that you check out all the airline’s websites directly.  For example, if you want to fly Delta, check out Delta.com, because you’re going to get the best price without the booking fees.

Attack the promotions

Airlines are no different than buying in the store, because they are always going to offer promotions.  When it comes time to buy an airline ticket, you’ll want to either look for package deals, or promotions that the airline is offering.  You may want to take advantage, because this may be the cheapest price that you’re going to get.

Buy at the right time

Some days are obviously going to be more than others.  For example, you’ll find that flying out on a Friday, or Saturday is going to be almost two times more than flying out on a Tuesday, or Wednesday.   This is why you should use sites like Kayak.com to learn what days are the best day to fly, because it does vary month to month.
