One of the best cities to visit and explore when you go to California is Sacramento. It is the capital city of the California State and the seventeenth largest city in the state. It is the center for cultural and economic activities in the Sacramento metropolitan area and it includes counties such as Placer, El Dorado, Yolo and Sacramento. In 2002, TIME magazine regarded the city of Sacramento as the most racially and ethnically integrated city.

The city of Sacramento is full of cultural landmarks. They also house some of the best theater arts facilities. Some of the major theater that you can visit in Sacramento is the Sacramento Convention Center, Memorial Auditorium, Community Center Theater and the Wells Fargo Pavillion, the latest addition to the theater venues in the city.

If you want to visit and experience living in the old and ancient part of the town, you can go to the Old Sacramento, filled with historical buildings founded since the 1850s. This part of the city has been one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area; not only because of the beautiful and quaint buildings but also because of the historic trains you can ride.  One of the buildings you can check out in the area is the Lady Adams Building. Passengers and the carpenters of the ship called Lady Adams are the ones who built the popular structure. Aside from the Sutter’s Fort, Lady Adams Building is the oldest building that survived the 1852 Great Conflagration. One of the popular landmarks in the area is the ole BF Hastings Building of 1983, which has been the earliest home of the Supreme Court of California. You would also want to check out the ‘Big Four Building’ established in 1852, destroyed in 1963 and reconstructed in 1965 and now regarded as National Historic Landmark.

Sacramento is also a home to popular museums in the country. You may want to visit the Crocker Art Museum, which is the oldest art museum in the western part of the Mississippi River; the Governor’s Mansion State Historic Park; California Museum for History, Women and the Arts; and the Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park.

This is just a sneak peak of what you will have to see in Sacramento. In addition, a day or two is not enough to fully explore the greatness of this city so if you are already there, make sure that every moment will count.  Don’t forget that if you’re thousands of miles away, there are so many cheap flights available today!  Take advantage of these low-cost airline tickets and consider spending most of your time in Sacramento, rather than on the road.
