In the world of 2.0, there are so many great resources out there when it comes down to saving money on travel.  There’s absolutely no reason that you should call up an airline by phone anymore.  By using the Internet and these tools, you can save hundreds on every vacation you take.  Let’s take a gander at some of the best 2.0 travel tool websites on the Internet.

Kayak:  Kayak is one of the best websites on the market, when it comes down to travel.  With it’s extremely easy to use interface, you’ll tell Kayak where you want to go, and when, and it will come back with the lowest fare from all the airlines combined!

FareCast:  FareCast by MSN is like Kayak, but instead, it will search out a few of the most popular websites online all at once to find the best deals.  This will save you time when it comes down to searching each website one by one.

TravelZoo:  Another huge favorite of mine, TravelZoo picks out 20 great deals each and every week.  I’ve used them countless times and they always find a way to find the best deals possible.  Be sure to sign up for their e-mail to get the updates, it’s free!

Google Maps:  When you want to plan out your next trip, Google Maps is amazing at doing so.  From it’s satellite view to it’s street view, you can basically look at the roads before you drive.  You can also search for places nearby your destination, get traffic reports, and more.

ERideShare:  ERideShare is an older site, but it’s great for those that are looking to carpool with someone else.  Whether you need a ride, or you’re willing to carpool with someone, you can find someone to go with you around your area, or even across the country!

GasBuddy:  Before you go out and fill up your gas tank, make sure you know where the cheapest gas is in your area.  Just by travelling a mile out of your way, you can save .10-.20 a gallon.

Trip Advisor:  Another favorite of mine, Trip Advisor has tons of reviews on hotels, things to do, and restaurants.  If you want to get a good, honest opinion on anything in a nearby city, this is the website to check out.

TripIt:  If you’re looking for a website to plan your travelling while you’re away, TripIt is a great way to organize your plans while getting ready for vacations.   It will automatically monitor your trip!

The next time you plan on going on vacation, be sure to check out some of the websites listed above.  You’ll be impressed with what you can get for free nowadays.
