When times are tough, everything is going bad at work, and we’re down in the dumps we always wish we could just go on a vacation and escape from home for a while. Although, it almost seems like we’re contradicting ourselves if we want to vacation when times are tough. Although that may be true, sometimes we can only bounce back if we take time for ourselves when we need it most.
Taking a vacation is a great way to relax, get away from our surroundings, and to rejuvenate. So, if you’re tight on money yet still want to take a vacation, it is possible! Consider a few of these tips to be able to do so!
How to vacation in tough times:
Save – First of all, you’re going to want to save a little bit of money each week. Even if you save $20 per week, you will be on your way to saving for your vacation!
More hours – If you have to, and if it’s worth it, pick up more hours at work. Do this for just a couple weeks even if it’s 5 hours per week, it will help you get to your goal of saving money for your vacation you need.
Flights – Flights are something people dread booking because they’re expensive. Although, they don’t have to be. Try booking in advance a few months, comparing airlines for prices, and booking on a Tuesday or Wednesday. This is the best way to find the best deal!
Hotels – Hotels can be another costly thing, but if you shop wisely you can find some great deals. Try saving by combining your flight and hotel costs. Or, go to hotels.com and see what deals they have to offer, and which hotels are the cheapest for the area.
Coupons – For hotels, flights, and attraction tickets you can usually find online coupon codes. These are codes that you’ll type in at the end of your check out. It is a series of numbers or letters that can save you a few bucks! So, type in what you’re looking for, either airline coupon codes, hotel coupon codes, etc.
Budget – Set a budget for when you’re on vacation. Only carry cash if you have to, and create a number that you don’t want to go over. Simple things like eating at your hotel (by getting your own groceries), and just relaxing at the hotel will save you a ton of money!
Just because the economy is bad doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to the vacation you need. Get away from your surroundings, work, and start relaxing. Take a few months to save, and you’ll be on vacation before you know it!
