1003965_passenger__aeroplane__1It is always an awful feeling when you get sick on an airplane.  It always seems like you’re the only one and no one around you is even bothered.  A lot of time when people get sick they don’t even consider taking flights and instead miss out on good deals and have to take the long way of driving.  If this is you, there is hope for you!  A lot of people get sick but they do a lot of things to help prevent it.  What can you do?  Continue reading below to find out!

  • Watch what you eat!  Avoid consuming foods and drinks that “don’t agree or settle well with your body”.   Things that are high in alcohol, fat, heavy or spicy may have a bad affect on you.
  • Avoid foods with strong food odors.  This may trigger an upset stomach and make you feel a little queasy.
  • Find a seat that has the least motion.  Seats up in the front and in the very back have a lot of motion and can make you sicker than sitting in the middle by the wing.
  • Avoid reading when flying.  There is something about motion sickness and reading that do not go well together!
  • Open the vents above you.  It is always a good idea to open the vents above you to get fresh air.  The feeling of fresh air is much more refreshing than breathing the same stale air over and over.
  • Drink a little bit of water.  It’s good to keep some cold water by your side.  Taking sips here and there help calm you down and distract you.
  • Listen to soft  and relaxing music.  Listening to music that relaxes you is always a good thing to do when on a plane.  This calms you down, distracts you and helps avoid motion sickness.
  • Don’t get a window seat.  If you are scared of heights and get motion sickness it isn’t a good idea to get a window seat.  Constantly looking down while you’re going up will only make you sick!
  • Find an OTC medication.  Taking a medication that helps reduce motion sickness can be very helpful and prevent it from happening or getting worse.

As you can see there are many things you can do to help avoid airline sickness.  Stop making your flights so stressful, feel good and get there without getting sick for once!  To make sure you avoid motion sickness as much as possible consider the points listed above.
