What happens at the airportStarting at the airport

When you first get to the airport, you may be a bit confused.  It can be difficult to find where you’re supposed to be.  To save on money, it is suggested that you buy tickets online before arriving at the airport.   At the airport, you’ll want to find the check-in desk for the airline you’re flying with.  Don’t go to the Southwest counter if you’re flying Delta Airlines!  Check in, weigh your baggage, and then wait for your flight.  If you have a long wait, remember not to leave baggage unattended.  That’s a surefire way to end up in trouble.

When you’re in flight

When you first take off, you’ll probably feel a little bit of bumpiness.  That’s normal.  Once the plane is in the air and on course, there shouldn’t be too much of that, although of course if it is storming there may be turbulence.  Just remember to stay calm; think about something else if that helps.  The airline may serve food or drinks, and there is often a movie, but I still recommend bringing a good book in order to keep you occupied.  Don’t count on sleeping, and you may as well give up on trying getting comfortable.

When you arrive

When you arrive at your destination, the procedure should be pretty much the same as when you left.  If you are in a foreign country, you will have to go through customs.  When they ask you how long you are staying, the purpose of you visit, and that entire sort of thing, be confident in your answers and answer right away; don’t think, as if you were trying to get your story straight.  Rent a car if you need to, but be aware that renting it at the airport will be more expensive than renting elsewhere in the city.   Find a hotel, and crash.  Jet lag is a pain!
