Whether you’re a seasoned veteran when it comes to flying or you haven’t flown a day in your life, that’s okay.  Many travellers often wonder where the best seat is on the plane.  Well, every plane is laid out a little differently than others but most have the same concept.

Check out the emergency exit

Sure, you’re going to be in charge if there’s an emergency on your plane but this spot usually has the most leg room and you won’t have to bother people when you’re getting up.  This seat can vary in price depending on which airline you fly.

Sit near the wing (those that are paranoid)

If you’re extremely paranoid about flying and you would want the best odds when surviving a plane crash, experts say to sit where the wing is.  This is the strongest part of the plane and if it were to snap in half, this portion of the plane would be in tact increasing your odds of survival.  I hate to sound morbid but this tip is for those that are truly paranoid of flying.

Window or the aisle?

In my opinion, both of these seats have their own advantages and dis-advantages.   I really think it’s up to you on what you like and don’t like.  A few months ago, I wrote a post on how you can choose between an aisle and window seat.

Sit away from the restroom

When you choose your seat online or in person, make sure you steer clear of the restroom.  Passengers are constantly going to get up and wait in line to use the facility.  You probably won’t enjoy the smell either every time the door opens and shuts.

No matter who you fly, look at the diagram when you pick out your seats.  There are plenty of places to sit.  If you want more leg room or you want to stretch out, the airline may charge a premium, so watch for that price tag as well.  Other than that, bring lots of entertainment and enjoy your flight.
