Cheap Flying Tips
by: Tom Tessin

Let’s face it. Everyone in the world likes to save money weather it’s at the local grocery store or it’s flying on an airplane. A lot of people don’t fly frequently so it’s tough to find out how to save money on flying. We have compiled a few tips that will help you save a few bucks on your plane ticket.

Is Your Ticket Too Expensive?

Is your round-trip ticket way too expensive? Try booking your flight to another city and flying from that city. You’ll be surprised on how much you may save doing this sometimes. Even though it may be a hassle getting on and off an airplane, if it means saving money, why not try it!

Military or Senior Citizen

If you’re flying with a Senior Citizen, chances are they will receive a discounted rate. Sometimes if you ask the airline for a discount as well for traveling with them, you may receive it as well.

Also, if you have attended the military in the past or are presently active, you may be eligible for a discount. Refer to your airlines rule for further instructions on how to obtain this discount.

First Class Upgrade

If you’re like most of us, you want to fly first class but you don’t want to pay the price. If you get to the airport early enough, ask if they have any openings. A lot of the times they will write your name down if a first class customer doesn’t show up. Why not fly first class for a coach price?

One-Way Tickets

If you’re going to your destination for longer than 30 days, check out the one-way ticket prices. You may be able to save money this way instead of purchasing a round trip airline ticket.

Beating The Rush

If you want to save time and energy at the airport, hop on the Internet and check out your flight’s arrival time. If the departure time is on a delay, don’t rush to the desk like most people. Instead, call up the toll-free number and talk with an operator. This will save a lot of time waiting in line at the desk.

Do You Fly A Lot?

Since you’re already on this website, chances are you’re looking for an airline based credit card. Since most airlines offer a credit card, be sure to sign up for one and make money on your money. You can earn a lot of free tickets just for flying your airline a lot!

Go To Another Airport

Do you live near a very large metro airport? If so, you may want to check smaller airports that are further away. Sometimes these airports will offer cheaper rates or package deals that are cheaper than the metro airport. Websites such as Travelocity will allow you check out the rates at those particular airports.

These are just a few tips you can use when you want to save money traveling. Like we mentioned above, if you fly a lot, it’s wise to get a credit card that will give you double the mileage every time you buy a ticket. These miles will add up quick believe it or not. It’s always best to monitor your ticket prices before buying them online. Once you find a cheap rate, be sure to buy because airline tickets tend to act like the stock market.
