Finding the Best Hotel Deals
by:
Tom Tessin
We all love to travel in today’s age and when it comes down to travelling, you can really sit back and think of all the expenses that come along with it. From airline tickets to hotels for the nights, it can add up fairly quick. Like anything you purchase in your lifetime, there’s always a cheap way around it. Finding out how to do it is the hard part. Listed below are a few points on how you can find the best hotel deals on your next trip.
Book your trip in the offseason
When you’re planning your next trip, try and pick it around the offseason instead of the peak season. Sometimes, you’ll be surprised on how much you can save. An example of an offseason would be the month of June in Las Vegas because it’s the hotter months compared to January when everyone wants to escape the cold and head west. If you can figure out when the offseason time is, you can save up to fifty percent easily on your hotel room. Sometimes, it’s also best to book on a weekday as well because weekends tend to be a little bit pricey.
Grab a package deal
If you’re going to book your airline tickets, hotel, and rental car all at the same time, see if your hotel can be booked as a package deal. Many online travel agents such as Expedia will offer a package deal when you book more than one thing together. Sometimes you can save a ton of money just by booking it as a package.
ALWAYS book directly with the hotel online
I’ll give you a little secret here that works 99% of the time. Use a major travel agent online like Orbitz and see what hotels look good for you in the area you’re staying. Once you find that hotel, simply google the name and see if the hotel has a website. If they do have a website, see if you can simply book your room directly through the site. If you can do this, you’ll be able to save more. This way you can avoid the travel agent fees and any other fees the other places charge to stay in business.
Stop by a local gas station
If you’re travelling via a road trip and you tend to stay at a hotel right off the expressway, stop at a gas station nearby and see if they are offering any hotel room coupons for hotels in the area. If you hit a big enough gas stations, these stations usually have a few coupons lying around. Check them out and see if there are any nearby the area. These coupons usually offer a decent discount.
There are so many ways to save on a hotel. Remember, that it also matters on what type of room you want. If you want a five star hotel, you’re going to pay a five star price. If you’re frugal like most people, you’ll be content with a three star hotel.
