Flying with Children Tips
by: Tom Tessin

As an adult, it can be hard to fly.  Some people can’t even imagine what it would be like to fly with kids tagging along.  Believe it or not, if you do a little research and planning, the process can be a lot easier than you would have ever imagined.

Flying with kids will only be a pain if you make it that ways.  It’s important that you realize that what other people think doesn’t matter to you when you board that airplane.  The first thing you should worry about is your children and then the other passengers.  People know babies and kids can get bored, it’s your responsibility to not let your kids go above that limit.  These tips should help better your next flight with children.

Pack some entertainment

Depending on your flight, it’s important that you pack some entertainment for your kids.  Books, magazines, and little toys that don’t make a lot of noise are a perfect way to keep your kids entertained throughout the whole flight.  Remember as a parent, kids love to have stories read to them!  Not only will it pass them time for them, it will pass the time for you.

Bring extra

As you know by now with a child, you always have to pack that necessity bag that includes diapers, food, blankets, and more.  It’s important that you bring double of what you usually bring just in case something does happen, such as something getting lost, broken, or the item gets dirty.  If this is the case, you’ll have extra to keep the child happy.

Watch what you pack

It’s important that you refer to the TSA guidelines before you pack carryon bags.  Right now, you’re only able to carry 2 carryon bags per passenger.  If this isn’t enough for you, make sure that you condense the bags to fit the only things you need.

Remember to make the kid your first priority, not yourself.  It’s also important that you don’t pack anything that won’t allow on the airlines such as liquids over a certain capacity, etc.

Baby carrier

If you tend to travel frequently, you should really look into getting a backpack slash baby carrier.  They are actually a really unique device that can work wonders.  It basically works as a backpack and you can place your child inside of it as well.  This way you won’t have to watch your child as you carry a million bags.  This can save you a ton of stress and time.

Avoid the crowds

If you don’t travel a lot and you haven’t bought your tickets yet, it’s important that you look into the smaller airports instead of the bigger airports.  You’ll find that the smaller airports have smaller crowds and it’s a lot easier to move around in.  With the larger airports, you’ll find that it’s a lot harder to get around via security and just walking around in general.

Remember that when you’re travelling, a majority of the time it’s for pleasure.  You should take these times to enjoy it with your children.  Try not to raise your stress level with your children, as it will only make the situations worsen.  If you level your stress levels and you follow a few of these tips, you’ll be travelling great all the time
