When it comes to travelling, you may find that whether you buy the tickets a year in advanced or two days before your trip, you’ll notice that the tickets tend to be pretty expensive depending on your location. Like anything you purchase in life, there are steps you can take in order to make last minute travel a lot easier and affordable.
Be flexible with the airlines
If you’re flexible with the airlines, you’ll find that you’ll be able to get cheaper rates. Typically, if you fly in the morning, you’ll find that these flights are generally cheaper than if you fly in prime time hours around 5pm or so. If you plan on getting your tickets directly at the airport, make sure that you make yourself as flexible as possible, this will give you the best rate possible.
Compare like always
Just because you’re flying the last minute, this doesn’t mean you can’t shop around. Don’t buy the first plane ticket that comes to mind just because it’s available. Simply do some shopping as if you were going to buy the tickets a year in advanced. Remember, that it’s always the cheapest to buy the tickets directly from the airlines itself.
Call up your airline
If you’re loyal to a particular airline, you may find that they don’t post last minute deals. A lot of the times they won’t post it last minute because they feel that they will benefit more off of the tickets down the road. Believe it or not, if you make a call to the airline and ask if they have any special last minute deals, you may find that they will have some to your liking. It never hurts to call. Even if you’re not loyal to an airline, simply call around to other airlines until you find a decent deal.
Go old fashion
I know we’re in the tech age of the internet and everything digital but travel agents probably still exist in your area. If you simply do a search online for a local travel agent office or check the yellow pages, you should be able to find a few within a couple miles around your house. Once you find a travel agent, simply stop by and ask them what you’re looking for. Since travel agents usually get a spiff from the airlines, they will do everything in their power to find you a great last minute deal.
Just because you’re flying last minute doesn’t mean you’re not going to find a great deal. If the plane has open seats, they are going to do everything in their power to get rid of those seats meaning if they have to sell them at a discounted price, they will. Use some of the techniques above or use your imagination when It comes to purchasing your ticket. Airline tickets are everywhere and depending on how last minute your trip is, check all kind of sources. With a little research and dedication, you’ll be able to find cheap last minute airline tickets in no time.
